Nominate for “One Book – One Lincoln” in 2020!

As you start your 2020 reading, and you’re thinking back over your favorite reads in 2019, we remind you that you can submit nominations for ONE BOOK – ONE LINCOLN year-round via our online form at: https://lincolnlibraries.info/…/one-book-one-lincoln-nomina…/
So…take a moment to nominate one or more books via the official form, for titles you’d like to have considered by the Selection Committee as possible finalists for the 2020 One Book – One Lincoln public voting.
[One note: You need not nominate the same title more than once — a single nomination is enough for a book to make it on the long list of titles the committee will consider.]

Author Visit With Lauren Markham
Join author Lauren Markham as she discusses The Far Away Brothers on Tuesday, November 19th, 2019, 7:00-8:30 p.m. in the Lincoln High School Auditorium, 2229 J Street. Learn about her research regarding immigration and her writing process. Copies will be available for purchase and the author will be present for book signing afterwards.

There are two remaining special programs associated with the 2019 One Book – One Lincoln community reading project, including an appearance by author Lauren Markham!
The Immigration Game and Discussion
Join us Sunday, October 27th, 2019, 2:00-3:00 p.m., at
Eiseley Branch Library, 1530 Superior Street to play the immigration board game! Come experience how the current immigration system works in an interactive activity followed by group discussion and conversation facilitated by Nebraska Appleseed.

2019 One Book Top Three finalists (and Top 11 short list) to be announced May 27th!

One Book – One Lincoln fans,
On Memorial Day, Monday, May 27th, the annual Coffee on the Dock at The Mill event will be taking place again from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at 8th & “P” St. You can gather with fellow book lovers at this event, sponsored by the Foundation for Lincoln City Libraries. At 10:30 a.m., the Top 3 Finalists will be unveiled, and later that day, the online voting form on the Lincoln City Libraries’ website will be active, for readers to vote for their favorite among those Top 3 Finalists for 2019. The libraries’ One Book web pages, once revealed, will also include the shortlist of the remainder of the Top Eleven at that time.

One Book coordinator Katie M. recently gave book talks at both the Bethany and Gere BooksTalk sessions in which she talked about all of this year’s Top Eleven titles. An audio podcast of that booktalk will also be made available online shortly after the titles are revealed! Watch for announcements of upcoming Discussion Opportunities, once the titles have been announced.

One Book – One Lincoln – 2019 Sneak Preview booktalks in early May!

One Book – One Lincoln fans —
Don’t miss your chance to learn what the Top Eleven titles are for One Book – One Lincoln in 2019. Program coordinator Katie M., from the Bennett Martin Public Library downtown, will give a BooksTalk presentation at both the Bethany BooksTalk and Gere BooksTalk groups in the next couple of weeks.
Bethany BooksTalk – 1810 N. Cotner Blvd. – Friday, May 10th, 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Gere BooksTalk – 2400 S. 56th St. – Monday, May 13th, 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Katie will give a short plot summary, an emotional response, and read a compelling paragraph from each of the Top Eleven titles, which were considered by the One Book selection committee. You’ll still have to wait until the official “announcement” on Memorial Day to find out which of the Top Eleven will be the three finalists that the public can vote for in June and July! The three finalists and 8 “honorable mentions” will be posted on our website and social media May 27th.
